Professional Development![]() Nutrition and Dietetics professionals in the USPHS are employed in clinical, administrative, management and community settings, in both rural and urban communities. The Commissioned Corps provides opportunities for Registered Dietitians to progress in their careers, by becoming an expert in one area of nutrition and dietetics or by obtaining a variety of experiences before deciding on a career track. The Professional Development Sub committee of the D/N PAC is charged with assisting Commissioned Corps officers with their career needs and goals. The sub committee understands that officers are interested in learning about opportunities to pursue additional training, attend continuing education programs, advance their careers, and eventually transition to retirement. This sub committee has assembled a list of programs and websites within the federal government system to help officers meet their training and career goals. We have provided access to job announcements, avenues of continuing education, distance learning programs to obtain advanced degrees, Commissioned Corps training programs, career opportunities in most federal agencies, and information on retirement. This information will be periodically updated. Let us know if this information meets your needs and how we can better serve you! Please inform us about any website links that would provide information valuable to Dietitians and Nutritionists. All comments and information may be sent to the Sub-committee Chair or PAC Chair.
