BACKGROUND The FDA Science Forum is a unique conference that showcases the broad range of FDA science and its relationship to the Agency's public health mission. The 2005 Forum will bring FDA scientists together with representatives from other components of Department of Health and Human Services, industry, academia, government agencies, consumer and patient advocacy groups, Congress, international constituents, and many other stakeholders. The Science Forum features presentations by leaders of the academic and public health communities, and thereby provides an excellent environment for the open discussion of emerging science, technology, and methodologies, as well as how they can be used to meet the Nation's public health needs. PLENARY SESSION Keynote Address: Robert Langer, DSc, Kenneth J. Germeshausen Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering and Health Sciences and Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology FDA DIRECTOR'S SESSION The 90 minute Meeting Your Center Director session will be a plenary session, intended for participants to gain a basic understanding of what is going on with individual Centers. FREE PUBLIC SESSION This free session will provide members of the general public the opportunity to hear about the science behind Personalized Medicine, Generic Drugs and the new Dietary Guidelines, issues of critical importance to the FDA. Presentations will be from national experts in these fields. INTERACTIVE SESSIONS The interactive sessions are intended as an informal, round table scientific discussions of topic areas that are both cross-cutting and that present certain conundrums.
