Integrity of Sterile Zone

• The sterile zone must be well-defined

• The sterile zone does not have to be composed of physical barriers

• Laminar flow air can be used as a barrier

• Need to account for possible line stoppages and product flow through the sterile zone

• Aseptic clearing of line jams may not require resterilization - ASK yourself has the aseptic zone been compromised?
